| I am in the process of planning my next photography trip to Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge near Sororro, New Mexico. As of now I plan on leaving on December 26th, 2007. The Refuge lies along 9 miles of the Rio Grande in the desert of south-central N.M. Although this time of year brings night time temperatures in the 20's, I plan to tent camp in the San Lorenze Canyon Recreation Area which is operated by the Bureau of Land Management. My main objective at Bosque is to photograph birds. Here, tens of thousands of birds-including sandhill cranes, Artic geese, and many kinds of ducks- gather each autumn and stay through winter. In addition to taking all of my photography gear, I will also be taking backpacking and camping gear. Due to these factors I will be driving (from Ohio). My current route (subject to change) is to take I-70 to St. Louis, MO. From St. Louis, MO I will take I-44 through Missouri to Oklahoma City, OK. From Oklahoma City I will take I-40 west through Texas and into New Mexico. Near Albuquerque, NM I will head south on I-25 to Socorro. |
